Boat Cruise on the May River (A 2-hour Tour)

Here we are jetting along the May River (or Bay, or whatever) on a two-hour tour of the local waterways. Our cottage is in those trees somewhere:

Still flying along the May River:

That little fin in the middle is a bottlenose dolphin. A teenager, according to our guide, because the teenagers stick around the area for awhile before heading farther out into the ocean:

May River Cafe

Wednesday night we went out to the May River Cafe, where you sit at a counter and watch them make your dinner. It was all very entertaining and reminded me a lot of my days in a restaurant kitchen:

Fried green tomatoes with ranch dressing!

Now this is a very good restaurant that I recommend to anyone, but the men's room had kind of a strange set-up. If anyone can explain what that other chair was doing in there and why it was placed where it is I'd be interested in hearing your theories!

Photos from Around the Inn at Palmetto Bluff

Here we are walking towards the main Inn and little town built to support the resort:

Facing east towards the May River, which apparently is really a bay. That same boat was in one of the postcards we sent out this morning!

Turning around and facing west is the lagoon near our cottage (which was down the brick road to the left):

Another shot of the lagoon. The health club and pool are in the building on the far right:

Now I'm over at the health club in the picture immediately above, looking back across the pool towards the little bridge from which the last couple of pictures were taken:

The Jacuzzi at the health club:

Main lodge at Inn at Palmetto Bluff:

Another shot of the main lodge. Every night they burn logs in the fire pits and you can make s'mores!

Jill in the main lodge...looking beautiful as always!

Walking into "town," which is actually all built to serve the resort. It was a bit "Stepford Wives-ish" in the sense that it didn't necessarily look real. But the people working in the little shops were very nice. More on the church on the far right a little later:

Lunch at "Buffalo's", the little diner in town:

Lunch at Buffalo's (continued):

So that's Buffalo's again in the background on the right, and the church in the background on the left:

So this resort was built in around 2004, and this church was built from materials salvaged from the World Trade Center destruction on 9/11/2001. It was extremely well built and absolutely beautiful:

A little farther away is the private boat dock. Boats are not left in the water due to the abundant algae and other life forms in the water. So when you want to go boating, they wheel out this little ol' forklift, grab your boat, and put it in the water!
